My aim is to provide guidance in understanding, accepting, and adapting to the truths and realities of worldwide collapse. I offer an in-depth philosophical, scientific, and spiritual approach, focusing on rightly discerning the increasingly overwhelming signs of collapse, from the Earth’s habitats for all of life to the societies, cultures, institutions, and the other systems, edifices, institutions, and artifacts of humankind.
Shortly after completing my doctoral research on existential collapse, I joined Extinction Rebellion (XR), forming a local chapter in Orlando, Florida in March of 2019. Later, in December, I became a volunteer and eventually a Guide with Deep Adaptation Forum (DAF). I continue to serve both of those front-line groups striving to aid others who seek to understand, accept, and adapt to the 6th mass extinction we’ve brought upon ourselves, and which is rapidly accelerating.
My professional background is in philosophy, science (specializing in IT & AI), and some academic positions and publications. My personal background has roots in central Kentucky, spreading from there to living in Florida (currently for the 2nd time), Chicago, Athens GA, and Silicon Valley. My primary sources of inspiration are my spiritual faith and love of family and friends.
Beyond those immediate and intimate influences, I am constantly inspired by the ideas, works, and actions of my XR and DAF colleagues. In philosophy — and in my Guidance services — I rely primarily on the semiotics of ‘the American Aristotle‘ Charles Sanders Peirce, the Christian existentialism of Leonard Sweet, and the writings of Wendell Berry and others of like caliber and character.
