I host Courage Earth circles in Victoria, BC, Canada. As an accredited facilitator with the Center for Courage & Renewal. I support individuals and groups as we build courageous communities to face what is happening together.
My background is in Canadian eco-politics and eco-activism. I studied political and earth sciences and the theory and practice of advocacy at the University of Toronto and York University, culminating in a Masters in Environmental Studies. For 40 years, I’ve served not-for-profit and government agencies with conservation mandates. I currently volunteer with the Deep Adaptation Forum in a few operational roles.
During my activist years I relied on the wisdom of Joanna Macy, Pema Chodron, Eckhart Tolle and other teachers of “presence” to get through each new day of dread, anxiety and loss. The next piece of the spiritual, psychological and professional puzzle came from training with the Center for Courage & Renewal. My question entering the program was how can a tender heart co-exist with political outrage. I now have some clues about that to share as we navigate collapse together.
I’ve developed and delivered Courage Earth programs since 2017 while exploring a less anxious and less adversarial story about how collapse and resilience happens. I have found many kindred spirits in the Deep Adaptation Forum community and am called to offer support and friendship to anyone in need.
